ImgSquash provides an image-compression tool and related explanations for general informational purposes. Here’s what that means in practice.

Check the result against your actual requirements

The tool is honest about what it produces — the result row shows the exact byte size and pixel dimensions of every output — but requirements are your responsibility to verify. Upload rules change: a visa photo may need minimum dimensions as well as a KB cap, a portal may accept only specific formats, and some forms re-encode or reject files for reasons beyond size (aspect ratio, color space, metadata). Always compare the output against the current instructions of whatever you’re submitting to. The size limits quoted on this site are representative examples, not authoritative rules.

Output quality

Compression trades fidelity for size — that’s what it’s for. ImgSquash always picks the highest quality that meets your target, but at aggressive targets (a detailed photo into 20KB, say) visible softening or artifacts are unavoidable, and at extreme cases the tool reports the closest it could get rather than silently failing. If a result will be printed, enlarged or used in an official document, inspect it at full size before relying on it.

No warranty

The site is provided “as is” and “as available”. We test the compressor across formats, sizes and edge cases, but we make no warranty that it is error-free or that a given output will be accepted by a given form. To the maximum extent permitted by law, ImgSquash and its maintainers are not liable for losses arising from use of the site — including rejected uploads or deadlines missed because an output didn’t meet a requirement we didn’t set.

Your files, your responsibility

Because processing happens on your device, the original files stay under your control — keep them. A compressed output is a derivative: we recommend keeping the original alongside it, especially for identity documents and photos you can’t retake.

Advertising

The site may display third-party advertising (for example Google AdSense) to cover hosting costs. Advertisers don’t influence what the tool does or what the explanations say.
